Moruben Road, Mosman

A residence on Moruben Road Mosman, overlooking Balmoral and out to The Heads required a make-over.  The main bedroom has a South facing ensuite which needed much attention – ‘always cold’ said the outgoing tenants  – ‘we never use it’  –  this then was one of our challenges!

I took inspiration from the existing leadlight window as this was definitely staying – and chose the warmest hue – the golden wheat colour within the panel, to work from.

The ensuite to the main bedroom ‘Before’ our refurbishment works.

By introducing warm finishes to paints, multi coloured Italian glass mosaics, ceramic tiles for floor and walls, underfloor heating, overhead lighting including heating options, heated towel rails fixed and swinging, together with mood lighting set into the base of the overhead mirror cabinet and below the vanity I created an ensuite that ‘glowed’.

The warmest hue from the leadlight window gave inspiration and direction for the selection of finishes throughout the new space.  Italian glass tiles specified to the back wall provided both depth and texture to the room.

The shower head over the bath has an LED light which comes on with the shower of water, and gives sufficient light to shower beneath without having any other lights on.  As a consequence showering late at night, or in the early morning would not disturb someone sleeping in the main bedroom should this be a consideration.

Carefully positioned lighting provides a ‘glow’ to the south facing ensuite and ensures the space exudes warmth and comfort.  Heated flooring, towel rails and overhead lighting provided the reality.

All lighting was fitted with dimmers, easily controlled from the walk-through robe leading from the main bedroom to the ensuite.
